Roommates, it’s officially a wrap for Issa Rae’s popular HBO series “Insecure!” Issa shocked and saddened fans when she recently announced that after the show airs its fifth season, it will permanently end its run.
After debuting on HBO back in 2016, “Insecure” became an instant hit thanks to series star, creator and writer Issa Rae—and sadly, the time has come to officially say goodbye. Following industry reports that the show would be ending, many fans still didn’t want to believe the news, but Issa confirmed on social media that she would indeed be filming the very last season of the series in just a few months.
In a statement addressing that the fifth season would mark the series finale, Issa Rae had this to say:
“Prentice and I are so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end. We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience. I feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”
Now that all the scripts have been completed, the fifth and final season of “Insecure” is expected to go into production later this month. In addition to Issa, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, and Amanda Seales, are all slated to return when the show airs its season premiere later this year.
