All of the Amy Winehouse fans now have a chance to compete in a competition to record one of two singles from her 2006 album, “Back to Black.”
According to Complex, the new cover competition is to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the classic album. Fans will have the chance to submit their own versions of the well-known tracks from the album.
Island Records along with Vevo will donate all contest proceeds to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which helps the youth overcome homelessness, alcohol and drug addiction and much more.
Contestants can go to Amy Winehouse’s official Vevo page where they will find the lyric videos for “Just Friends” and “Tears Dry On Their Own.”
A link to download the instrumentals will be provided for people to create their covers and then upload them to YouTube. They will then submit the video links to Winehouse’s official website.
Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, who have produced on the album will judge the competition and pick a winner. The winner will then have a chance to record their version of the Amy Winehouse song of their choice, and it will be featured on Island Records’ official YouTube channel.
