Following his “early retirement,” ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Isaiah Washington is making some shocking statements about alleged behind-the-scenes antics.
Earlier this week, the 59-year-old hopped on Twitter and utterly shocked fans by alleging that “cast mates and producers of Grey’s Anatomy” engaged in debauchery.
Specifically, his accusations centered around “rampant alcohol and [drug use],” as well as “swingers parties.”
“Hmmm…I wonder if I should tweet about the rampant alcohol and drugs used amongst my fellow cast mates and Producers of Grey’s Anatomy and all of the swingers parties that took place?”
Washington added, “I remained clean for 3 years and declined the after-hours hot tub invites, because I was convinced that I would lose my contract with a urine analysis at any moment and lose my dear wife if I got in that woman’s hot tub.”
He didn’t end there, though, as Isaiah name-dropped producer Rob Corn and brought up a castmate who was “so drunk that he couldn’t get to the set of Grey’s Anatomy.”
“Hmmm…I wonder if I should post about how Producer Rob Corn told me that he had to break into the apartment to wake up one of my former cast mates, because he would get so drunk that he couldn’t get to the set of Grey’s Anatomy. Allegedly this happened multiple times. I was never late to work. NEVER.”
This situation follows Washington’s controversial social media statement about growing up with Ku Klux Klan members.
Isaiah recently took a moment to reflect on how “some of the best” people he knew growing up were in the KKK.
“I had some of the best elementary school teachers and even some neighbors that I knew were Klan Members back in Texas while growing up. I knew where They stood with me and They also knew where I stood with Them.”
He added that “the boundaries were very, very clear” before offering some examples. Additionally, Washington noted that his mother always treated children from KKK-involved families respectfully.
“The boundaries were very, very clear and I still played with Their kids, I just couldn’t drink from Their outside water hose or come inside Their house to eat and Their houses were usually much smaller than what I grew up in. My mother never refused to let Their kids into her house to eat a summer lunch and drink from our vintage JFK water glasses.”
He wrapped by pondering if these childhood friends — who he respected “as a true Texan” — are supportive of him today.
“I can’t help but wonder today, if Their kids are vigorously supporting me as an actor today, simply because I showed Them love and respect as a true Texan and a true American, even when Their parents and grandparents forbid it publicly.”
We should also note that this upload keeps getting removed from Instagram, though Isaiah has responded by continually reposting it.
After publications reported his statement, Isaiah made the accusations about Grey’s Anatomy. Notably, he tagged numerous publications and wrote, “[cherry-pick] THIS tweet.”
Tagging even more publications, he added, “Looks like I’m not gonna get a retraction claiming that I’m a KKK empathizer and supporter.”
