JT recently released a solo mixtape, and social media is reacting to the Miami rapper’s new music. Billboard reports that the 31-year-old’s debut project, titled ‘City Cinderella,’ dropped on July 19 under her Quality Control.
The rapper—born Jatavia Shakara Johnson— wants to make it clear that the 16-song mixtape is not an album. The Dade County artist included features from Stunna Girl, Clip, Jeezy, and DJ Khalid. She said much more time is put into releasing an album, and artists often devote “a year” to creating their art. The rapstress feels they are “just different.”
“‘City Cinderella’ is not my first album, being that I made this project so damm fast. I had to create this project throughout the tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture and doctor it,” Jatavia shared. “This is just something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts,” she said.
JT’s remix to her track ‘OKAY’ with Jeezy hit No. 22 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. She is set to take her pimped-out pumpkin carriage on a 21-date City Cinderella Tour starting in August.
Jatavia also released the music video for her mixtape track, ’90s Baby.’
Under The Shade Room’s Instagram report, commenters shared their thoughts on Jatavia’s latest project.
