Indiana Man Expecting His Stimulus Check Finds Millions Deposited Into His Bank Account

As those stimulus checks start to make their rounds, people are checking to make sure that they received the right amount. However, one Indiana man received an unexpected amount that he could not believe.

According to WGN9, Charles Calvin, a volunteer firefighter in New Chicago, Indiana received his check on Friday, and when he went to withdraw money from his account at a local ATM, he saw that he had a pretty hefty remaining balance.

He said to the news outlet, “I went to the ATM at the Family Express and once I withdrew $200 out of my account, I looked at the available balance still left in my account.” To his surprise, his account had $8.2 million, when he was only supposed to receive $1,700. He ran his card an additional time and the $8.2 million balance still remained.

However, by Monday, Charles called his bank about the situation, and they said they did not see that amount in his account, but they did confirm that his $1,700 stimulus check was deposited into his account.

Now Charles is wondering if taxpayers are receiving more or less than they should. It’s still unclear if this was an error made on behalf of the federal government, his bank, or that particular ATM machine he used when he made his withdrawal.

“It kind of sucks. You go from being a millionaire one second then back to being broke again. But hey, once you’re poor you don’t have anywhere else to go but up,” said Charles.

Roommates, what would you have done in this situation?
