TSR Prayers Up: A shooter injured at least 11 people early this morning in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
The shooting, which was reported around 3:20 a.m., happened on Canal Street, according to CNN. One person has been detained in connection to the shooting, according to police, but that person has yet to be charged with anything.
Ten of the victims were taken to local medical centers, and one victim reportedly walked into a local hospital. Two of the victims are in critical condition, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Authorities said they are investigating the possible involvement of the person detained at the scene. There is no known motive at this time.
No arrests in the shooting have been made as of 7:30 a.m. EST, New Orleans police told CNN.
Police received a call from someone reporting a disturbance at 3:21 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they could hear gunshots and reportedly found victims immediately, said NOPD spokesman Aaron Looney.
The shooting location provided by police is a brief walk from the French Quarter’s popular Bourbon Street, where tourists are known to frequent.
Paramedics, as well as state and federal police, have also responded to the shooting scene.
