Iman Shumpert has responded to Teyana Taylor, who alleges that her estranged husband made her feel endangered during their marriage.
The couple had been together since 2013 and welcomed two children, Junie and Rue. But in a candid post shared on Instagram in September, the ‘Outta My League’ singer announced that she and Shumpert had been living separate lives for a while, though she vehemently denied any infidelity.
Iman Shumpert And Teyana Taylor’s Divorce Turns Nasty
Taylor filed divorce papers at a Georgia courthouse in January and only used her and Shumpert’s initials to avoid revealing details of their split to the public.
In her court documents, Taylor described the 33-year-old as being a narcissist who allegedly became jealous over her career despite bringing home a higher income from his basketball career.
Aside from accusations of him getting angry when photographers asked him to step aside so that Taylor could have her photo taken, she claimed Shumpert would allegedly start arguments out of the blue before suddenly apologizing.

But perhaps the most shocking claim in her court docs came when Taylor alleged that her then-husband treated her cruelly, accused him of preventing her from working, and caused her to miss several job opportunities because of his jealousy.
Despite fans initially believing the pair were still on good terms after their split, Taylor’s legal paperwork painted a much darker picture of the ex-couple’s life behind closed doors.
The athlete has since addressed a string of the singer’s allegations in his own court documents, according to TMZ.
Iman Shumpert Says The Accusations Are False
Shumpert is reportedly asking the court to have Taylor redact any comments about him making her feel endangered while they were together.
The publication adds that Shumpert disagrees with their divorce coming to an end on the grounds of his alleged cruel treatment, which in legal terms would mean there was “willful infliction of pain bodily or mental … [that] reasonably justifies apprehension of danger to life, limb, or health.”
Shumpert says their split was solely due to “irretrievable broken bonds” and hopes that the judge in his divorce case with Taylor will side with him to consider the divorce as a means of two people reaching irreconcilable differences.
This determines if Shumpert is fit enough to parent the two children he shares with Taylor, as their custody battle is still far from over.
Recently, Shumpert received temporary parenting time with his kids until he and his ex decided on a custody agreement.
