Eric Bramwell, 35, was recently sentenced to 22 years in prison after he was found guilty for stealing a television remote back in August of 2015.
According to the New York Daily News, he took the remote from an apartment complex, and on his way out he dropped a glove. A DNA sample was taken from the glove and matched his DNA, which was already in the state’s convicted felon database.
He was found guilty for the crime back in November and was sentenced to 22-years earlier this week.
Due to his criminal past, he was eligible to receive up to 30-years behind bars. He has committed similar crimes in the past where he has stolen remotes and televisions from other apartment complexes.
State attorney, Robert Berlin said, “Mr. Bramwell’s illegal activity and his history have finally caught up with him. Regardless of what was stolen, Mr. Bramwell repeatedly thumbed his nose at the law. He took what he wanted, time and time again, and expected to avoid the consequences.”
Bramwell has to serve at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
