Iggy Azalea prefers not to be mentioned, especially if Playboi Carti is the person doing the talking! If you’re just tuning into their story, Iggy and Carti share an almost two-year-old son named Onyx . On Tuesday and Wednesday, she took to Twitter to shut down recent claims Playboi made while interviewing with XXL. To her, his words don’t reflect their real-life interactions, which apparently include no direct contact.
While answering questions about his fatherhood likes and experience, Playboi focused on the responsibilities of his role. In a few words, he told the publication he takes care of “a lot of people,” along with their bills. His spoken list included his mother, family, “baby mom,” and their son.
But Iggy says Playboi is pushing that answer a lil’ too far–at least the part that mentions her.
“Take care of me? Lmaooooo let’s not get carried away now.”
Iggy tweeted in reaction on April 12, the same day the online version of Carti’s interview was released.
While responding to Iggy’s tweet, user @smurkiojay pointed out the “many nice things” Carti said. The first time Carti mentioned Iggy by name in the article, he spoke on Onyx’s upcoming birthday on April 27 and his “crazy chain” gift.
After describing their son as “beautiful,” he spoke tenderly about Iggy’s mothering skills. In fact, Carti even included printing instructions for the XXL writer.
“…And Iggy, she’s a great mom. I love her to death. I’m single. She’s single now. But that’s one of the best mothers in the world,” Carti said. “And that’s what you got to put in the book, you hear me? I love her to death. She is the best mother in the world.”
To close the article, the writer asked if there was anything Carti would like to add. He, again, took the time to praise Iggy and Onyx.
“Yeah, just make sure [put in] that I love my baby mother. It definitely needs to be known that [Iggy] is the best mother in the world,” Carti said. “My son is perfect. He’s too perfect. I need to rough him up a little bit.”
Still, Iggy insisted those compliments aren’t enough to overshadow their real-life relationship.
“You’ve been misled,” Iggy responded to user @smurkiojay. “I don’t f*ck with a man I’m not even remotely on good terms with claiming he pays my bills. I pay my bills. Secondly, saying nice things for an interview sounds great but in real life he talks to me like sh*t so badly I had to stop all direct contact.”
She continued on, claiming that Playboi Carti’s team had already rung her line about the interview.
“His team has been calling about the interview, hoping for my silence because they know what my reaction would be,” Iggy tweeted. “I do appreciate being called a great mom but when that’s not reflective of what he has to say in real life I’d much rather be left out of being mentioned at all.”
Iggy concluded her Twitter slam by saying she’s “sure” this will be the last time Carti mentions her in an interview. In her words, “everyone wins.” Then, she announced she was logging off, before making it clear that she’s “a peaceful person.”
Sometime between Wednesday and Thursday morning, Iggy seemingly deleted her tweets. At this time, Playboi Carti has remained hush about her reaction.
