The wait is over! NWA is Making a Comeback on the Bigscreen!
Ice Cube recently blessed his fans during a show in Sydney, Australia with a special sneak peek trailer for the upcoming biopic named Straight Outta Compton set to portray the notorious west coast rap crew, N.W.A.
Not only is Ice Cube dropping his family friendly image for the film, his son O’shea jr. is set to play his father in the biopic. Also casted in the film are some new actors making their fresh debuts on the big screen, Jason Mitchell is playing the late Eazy-E and Marcus Callender who beat out Michael B. Jordan (Dr. Dre’s first choice) will be playing Dr. Dre.
Paul Giamatti, who was N.W.A’s manager and the co-founder of Ruthless Records and who is also played by Jerry Heller opens up the trailer with an almost prophetic message:
“Let me tell you what I see here: A lot of raw talent, swagger, bravado. People are scared of you guys, they think you’re dangerous, but you have a unique voice. The world needs to hear it.”
I don’t know about you but I cannot wait to see how Hollywood spins this story on the world’s most dangerous rap group, seeing how the last attempt at a biopic went horribly wrong. But I can say this is the season for black biopics so I’m just happy we are getting some shine for the things we did to make history!
The film is directed by F. Gary Gray and is set to hit theaters August 14, 2015. And thank God for cell phones, bootleggers, and Youtube because we got the trailer right here, check it out and tell us what you think:
