Roommates, for the past few years Ice Cube has been very vocal about his desire to make more sequels to his iconic film franchise ‘Friday’—but he has repeatedly faced bumps in the road and now he’s calling out those responsible. Taking to social media, Ice Cube slammed Hollywood studio Warner Bros. for being the reason why more ‘Friday’ sequels haven’t been made.
In a post to his Instagram, Ice Cube wrote “#FreeFriday from the jaws of Warner Bros. who refuses to make more sequels. They have hi-jacked the happiness of the culture”—which is a direct jab at the studio for continuing to hold up the process of bringing more films to audiences.
Apparently, Ice Cube is furious with Warner Bros. because although they own the rights to the ‘Friday’ films and have decided not to make any more, they are refusing to release the rights to him so that he can make the sequels at another studio.
Ice Cube has spoken out multiple times about feeling that the potential ‘Friday’bsequels are being held hostage since he can’t take them anywhere else to be made.
Sadly, as we previously reported, two of the film’s biggest stars passed away within the last few years, along with their legendary characters. Both John Witherspoon (who played ‘Pops’) and Tiny Lister (who played neighborhood bully ‘Deebo’) died in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
