It looks like the 2016 film “Hidden Figures,” has inspired a new television series to be developed over at National Geographic.
According to Variety, the film, which starred Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, was based on the book “Hidden Figures,” written by Margot Lee Shetterly.
The piece told the true story of three black female mathematicians who played important roles in U.S Space program during the 1960’s. The success of the film later earned the cast and crew three nominations at the 2017 Academy Awards.
Now the television project is still in development, but Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping of Chernin Entertainment will executive produce project.
Chernin and Topping were also the executive producers for the film.
If the project is ordered to series, it will be National Geographic’s latest effort to push for scripted content.
