HBO has shared an update on the return of its hit show ‘Euphoria’ and social media isn’t holding back its reactions.
According to Deadline, the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, is still working on scripts for the show’s upcoming third season. Therefore, “filming plans” for the show have been “temporarily put on hold.”
Additionally, the network has given the cast of ‘Euphoria’ permission to accept other acting jobs as they await the show’s production to be resumed.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” the network reportedly asserted in a statement to Deadline. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
The outlet adds that filming for the show’s third season was expected to begin in the next couple of months. However, it has not been reported how the latest delay may alter this timeline.
However, Deadline reports that the network is committed to plans for the show to “premiere in 2025.”
According to ELLE, the second season of ‘Euphoria’ premiered in January 2022. Meanwhile, the show’s first season premiered in 2019, per The Shade Room.
In light of HBO’s recent statement, fans took to The Shade Room’s comment section to share their disappointed reactions.
As The Shade Room previously reported, ‘Euphoria’ fans were initially left in mourning after one of the show’s stars, Angus Cloud, passed away in July 2023.
The actor was 25 years old, and his death prompted widespread reaction on social media.
Then, in November 2023, fans learned that the series wouldn’t return to TV screens until 2025. At the time, viewers had similar reactions, per The Shade Room.
“At this point keep it. Nobody finna wait that long to watch the show,” one Instagram user wrote in the comment section of The Shade Room Teens.
Roomies, will you be patiently waiting for the return of ‘Euphoria’ or have you moved on, too?
