Trump announced today that he is doing away with a planned pay raise for federal workers.
According to CNN, Donnie told lawmakers that the nation’s budget can’t support the pay increase that the roughly 1.8 million federal employees were expecting. In a letter to Congress, Trump said the raises would amount to $25 billion, which he described as “inappropriate.”
He still feels the government should be focused on “recruiting, retaining and rewarding high-performing” federal employees with critical skill sets.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Trump planned to reinstate the pay raises in the future. We’ll keep you updated on this story, #Roommates.
