Harvard University isn’t playing around with its incoming class #Roommates! The elite university rescinded ten prospective students’ admissions offers after the school caught wind that they were sharing ‘offensive’ memes in a Facebook chat group.
“Some of the messages joked that abusing children was sexually arousing, while others had punchlines directed at specific ethnic or racial groups,” according to the Harvard Crimson.
The online group was originally created to share funny nice memes but a few members took it too far, and one of the incoming students reported it.
According to CNN, Harvard University officials took to the schools official 2021 Facebook page to remind students that you aren’t in Harvard yet.
“We are not responsible for any unofficial groups, chats, or content within. Harvard College reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission under various conditions.”
One of those include “if an admitted student engages or has engaged in behavior that brings into question their honesty, maturity or moral character,” a university spokeswoman said.
