After a district attorney alleged a co-defendant offered to “whack someone” on his behalf, a judge has denied Gunna bond for the third time since being arrested in May for his connection with a RICO case.
On Thursday, Gunna’s lawyer strongly suggested that there isn’t “a shred of evidence” suggesting Gunna is involved in the case, but a judge didn’t seem to agree.
Judge Ural Glanville stated he had concerns about witness statements, Billboard reports.
“I still have the same concerns that have not been otherwise alleviated,” the judge said.
Gunna’s lawyer, Steven Sadow stated:
Although we must respect the court’s ruling, we know it is wrong,” Sadow said in a statement after the ruling. “Gunna is innocent of the charge against him and should not be in jail pending trial. The prosecution has produced no evidence that supports or justifies the denial of bond. Keeping Gunna detained is a miscarriage justice and fundamentally unfair.
