Marvin Gaye’s son has now joined the long list of people trying to sue the hit show, Empire, for you guessed it…. Stealing from him. Chileee if another person says the shows “Empire” stole from them …!
Anyways, Marvin Gaye III is calling for his coins because he feels as though Lee Daniels stole his idea.
Gaye has filed a lawsuit for an unspecified amount but his lawyer did say this, “We understand that three things can’t be hidden for long: the Sun, the Moon and the Truth!”
According to TMZ, back in 2010, Marvin allegedly had registered a treatment for a show he called “Diamonda & Ballads” or “Those Sons of Riches” with the Writers Guild of America.
He shopped the show, which was to depict the black family version of the “Sopranos” in the music business, around to many television producers and believes that Lee Daniels may have caught wind of his treatment through emails.
Daniels put the nail in the coffin for Gaye, when he said, “I wanted to make a black ‘Dynasty” and also compared Empire to the “The Sopranos.”
Looks like Gaye is trying his luck again after winning his lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell for them stealing “Blurred Lines” from his late father.
