Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that California will start the second phase of reopening the state, and the first batch of people will be able to go outside.
“On Friday I said we were days not weeks from announcing modifications to the stay-at-home order, and today we are announcing our efforts to update the stay-at-home guidelines and begin the process of moving to Stage 2,” Governor Newsom said.
As you know, we are currently in phase one–quarantined and only allowed to leave our homes for essential necessities.
Starting Friday, businesses such as florists, shopping stores, bookstores, and sporting good stores. Customers will be able to receive their products curbside only Governor Newsom announced.
“As early as by end of this week, you will have the capacity as retailer to begin to reopen for pickup: clothing, bookstores, music shops, sporting goods, florists as Mother’s Day approaches and other sectors within that retail sector,” Governor Newsom said.”
Governor Newsom also stated that local officials will have the ability to determine what’s best for their city. The local guidelines will supersede what the Democratic governor proposes.
The third phase will includes the opening of hair salons, gyms, religious services, and sports competitions in empty stadiums, according to the Los Angeles Times. The local guidelines will supersede what Governor Newsom proposes.
The fourth phase will conclude the stay-at-home order, and people will be allowed return to work, per normal. Concerts won’t happen until a vaccine has been created for the virus.
Texas, Florida, and Georgia have also reopened their states. Georgia’s malls, nail and beauty salons, and clubs have also opened. Florida has opened its’ beaches, and Texas has also opened some businesses with curbside pick-up only.
