TSR Tunez: I know it’s been a minute since my U.S. government class in high school and even though I feel I have a good grasp of how things work, this rap by Ohio rapper Yellopain was a real good refresher.
In the video, Yellopain breaks down the three branches of government as it applies to the local, state and federal levels. He took aim at Congress specifically and explains why it’s so important to vote for our representatives who make the laws that affect us.
“I noticed voting wasn’t a conversation in my community and I didn’t all the way know how it worked myself,” Yellopain told us. “Then my cousin who is running for congress explained how ignorant I was. She was right. Once I learned, I knew I had to be a bridge between the people who knew and cared and the people who didn’t know they should care.”
