Monica let it be known that she does NOT play about gender violence, as she recently paused a show to confront a male audience member for allegedly hitting a woman!

The Singer Leaped Into The Audience To REGULATE: “Don’t You Hit Her That!”
The situation unfolded over the weekend while Monica was performing at the Riverfront Music Festival in Detroit, and her response to the matter was caught on video.
While on the stage, Monica caught wind of a physical altercation in the audience and began repeating, “Wait a minute.”
She then admonishes the man by stating, “No! Don’t you hit her like that!”
After declaring that the alleged assailant had to leave, Monica went full “Goonica” mode and leaped into the crowd. While in the audience, Monica says, “You don’t hit no f**king lady like that!”
After that, Monica returned to the stage and apologized while explaining her reaction.
“I want to apologize, y’all. That s**t triggered me. I seen him punch that lady in the face, [and] I lost my s**t.”
Monica Says She Was “Triggered” By The Ordeal: “It Was Like Seeing My Mother Or An Aunt Get Assaulted”
After the video began circulating online, Monica stepped into The Shade Room‘s comment section and reiterated her apology.
However, the “Angel of Mine” singer pointed out, “No one would take action!”
“I was so triggered, I watched & she didn’t appear to even know him! It appeared to be about space during a packed concert!”
Monica also shared that the alleged assailant apparently “punched [the woman] with ALL his strength,” and she was merely “prevent[ing] her from being hit again.”
After emphasizing that her pleas for help “fell on deaf ears,” the artist acknowledged, “It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!”
Finally, she noted that the woman in question appeared to be over 50, and she “pray[s] she’s ok.”
