If you were one of the millions who got hooked on #Netflix’s “Ginny & Georgia” these past few months, then I have good news for you!
The popular young adult show will be returning for season 2, according to Deadline, and I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t wait to find out what happens next to the mother and daughter duo, with a lil’ side of Austin.
It’s no real surprise that this show would be coming back. In addition to its growing fandom, Netflix revealed that the first season was watched by 52 million subscribers in its first 28 days of debuting, with particularly strong performance in the U.S., Kenya, Australia and Brazil.
The show, which launched in February, has regularly appeared in Netflix’s top 10 most-watched series.
If you saw it, but haven’t decided to watch just yet, let me tell you what it’s about with the least amount of spoilers.
The show stars Brianne Howey, as 30-year-old Georgia Miller and Antonia Gentry as her 15-year-old daughter Ginny Miller. Ginny is described as an angsty and awkward teen, who lives in the shadow of her foineee and street smarts-having mama.
They’re often on the move, along with Georgia’s 9-year-old son Austin, as Georgia attempts to escape her shady past while trying to put down roots for her family in a small, boujee Massachusetts town.
Things get real, however, when Georgia’s past starts creeping back up to haunt her while Ginny struggles with being one of eight Black kids in her whole school.
With themes of mystery, growing pains, murder and racial injustice and identity, it has proven to be an addictive series for many.
The second season will comprise of another 10 episodes and will be produced in Canada.
