Where is #HurricaneHarvey going next? According to TIME, the hurricane-turned-tropical storm is expected to move northeast into parts of Louisiana and northwestern Mississippi on Thursday. By Friday, the National Hurricane Center expects three to six inches of rainfall across Kentucky, southwestern Louisiana and western Tennessee.
#Roommates, we also want to keep you informed that another possible threat is brewing. Tropical Storm Irma has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, but it’s too early to know its exact path. “As of 11 a.m. ET, Irma had 50-mph winds. It was located about 2,000 miles east of the Leeward Islands and about 3,000 miles southeast of Miami,” USA Today reports. “Irma was moving to the west at 13 mph. The storm is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane by the end of the week, with winds estimated at 75 mph.”
We’d like to urge everyone living in the affected areas to please be safe! Thus far, an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 homes have been destroyed in the Houston area as a result of Harvey.
