Boxing legend George Foreman,73, is the latest celebrity to find themselves in the middle of allegations from the past—and his comes with shocking new lawsuits. According to new reports, two women have sued George Foreman claiming that he sexually assaulted them when they were minors, and he was in his 20s.
TMZ reports, via formal court documents that were filed earlier today in Los Angeles, George Foreman is facing separate lawsuits from two women who allege that they were sexually assaulted by him when they were underage—while Foreman was in his 20s. The women are identified as Denise S. and Gwen H. They both say they initially encountered George Foreman in the late 1960s, and early 1970s by their fathers, who were boxing fans.
Denise S. alleges that when she was 13, Foreman, who she estimates was around 24 at the time, was sexually inappropriate with her and two years later when she was 15, they had sexual intercourse. Meanwhile, Gwen H. claims that when she was 16 (and Foreman was 23) he pursued her and then “would molest and sexually abuse” her.
Both women are seeking unspecified damages in their lawsuits. It should also be noted that George Foreman has firmly denied the allegations, as recently as last month with TMZ. He reportedly stated that he believes that allegations from both women were mere attempts to extort him for millions of dollars.
“Over the past six months two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family. They are falsely claiming that I sexually abused them over 45 years ago in the 1970s. I adamantly and categorically deny these allegations. The pride I take in my reputation means as much to me as my sports accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies,” Foreman previously said.
George Foreman further added, “I am, and always will be, guided by my faith and trust in God. I will work with my lawyers to fully and truthfully expose my accusers’ scheme and defend myself in court. I don’t pick fights, but I don’t run away from them either.”
