I hope the “no new friends” mantra doesn’t apply to George Clooney because listen—I’m tryna be friends ASAP! If y’all remember, back in 2017 we reported that George Clooney gave 14 of his friends $1 million each.
George is finally confirming the reports, explaining why he dropped a bag—literally—on each of his friends.
George reflects on where he was in life at the time, single, bachelor life, with no set intentions of ever marrying or having kids–that all changed when he married his lawyer boo Amal Clooney of course.
Being that he didn’t “have” a family of his own pre Amal, he thought about what he did have–some good friends.“I thought, what I do have are these guys who’ve all, over a period of 35 years, helped me in one way or another. I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke. They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I’ve helped them over the years. We’re all good friends,” he tells GQ magazine.
“And I thought, you know, without them I don’t have any of this,” he said bout his friends. “And we’re all really close, and I just thought, basically, if I get hit by a bus, they’re all in the will. So why the f**k am I waiting to get hit by a bus?”
George continues his explanation, saying, “I just held up a map and I just pointed to all the places I got to go in the world and all the things I’ve gotten to see because of them,—and I said, ‘How do you repay people like that?’ And I said, ‘Oh, well: How about a million bucks?'”
George basically had luggage filled with $14 million in cash and called his lil’ friends over to drop it on ’em!
Wow! What a thank you–I love my friends–but I’m feeling a way that neither of them are George Clooney…
