#Roommates, social media was on fire today when a video clip surfaced of Gayle King interviewing former WNBA star Lisa Leslie and asking her about the past sexual assault allegations against the late, great Kobe Bryant. Well, now Gayle has officially responded to the intense backlash.
Many were in disbelief that Gayle King would be so disrespectful of Kobe Bryant’s legacy and the emotional state of his family and friends, to use her interview with Lisa Leslie to bring up past allegations against him that were dismissed in court.
On the most recent episode of “CBS This Morning,” Gayle was in the middle of interviewing Lisa when she totally blindsided her by asking her to comment on his sexual assault allegations from back in 2003.
However, Lisa beautifully responded to the rapid fire questions by discussing about how great of a person Kobe was:
“Even if there’s a few times that we’ve been at a club at the same time, Kobe’s not the kind of guy, never been, like, ‘Lis, go get that girl, or tell her, or send her this.’ I have other NBA friends that are like that. Kobe, he was never like that.”
Fast forward a few hours, and practically everyone (celebrities included) have slammed Gayle for her questions. Rapper Barry Bondz tweeted to her writing:
“@GayleKing you [should] be ashamed of yourself for bringing that question up. It be our own people to take us down. Now @GayleKing go interview Harvey Weinstein. Let me see that interview.”
She responded with this:
“Hey Barry…your tweet was sent to me first not ashamed it’s a fair question…second I wanted to make sure people saw Lisa’s answer she said what many are thinking…I’m glad you weighed in.”
Gayle’s clarification did not do much at all to stop the current backlash she’s receiving.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
