Gary Chambers Jr. Runs For Congress Following The Viral Video Of Him Getting A School Board Member Together

Roommates, remember Gary Chambers Jr.? Back in June, he went viral after he got a school board member all the way together after he spotted her online shopping during a community meeting where they were discussing changing the name of the local high school.

However, Gary’s work didn’t start there and didn’t end there. He was been a known advocate and activist in his community in Louisiana working to bring about change, and now it looks like he is ready to bring change on a higher level.

On Monday, Gary officially announced his run for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District. He said, “If we come together around a shared vision for progress we will win.”

Last June when Gary shared the video of him going off on school board member Connie Bernard, he said, “Connie Bernard shopped while Black people discussed renaming Lee High. I told Connie Bernard to her face she needed to resign from the East Baton Rouge School board.”

He continued, “She was shopping while citizens were speaking about changing the name of Lee High. She was a school board member to keep Lee associated with the school. Then she chocked a teenager in his home in 2018, she should’ve resigned then, Then she got on TV last week telling Black folks we needed to learn more of Lee’s [Robert E. Lee] history.”

Gary uses his voice and platform to not only highlight issues within his community, but communities throughout the country, and he has already recieved support from many people as he embarks on his journey to congress.
