Could a wedding be in the cards for Future?
According to some comments made during a recent sit-down with Billboard, it sounds like the rapper could be looking to settle down, as he referred to the prospect of marriage as “one of [his] dreams.”
During the interview, Future—who’s fathered at least 7 children with just as many women— was asked to reflect on what he believes life would be like if he were married.
In response, he poignantly revealed that he hopes to eventually call someone his wife.
“If I was married, at home with my kids, man, it’d be way different. That’s a life I never lived. It’s something you dream about. That’s one of my dreams. It’s easy for other people, but for me, it’s just like, man, this rock star lifestyle, it don’t gel well.”
While his status as a big-name rap star can get in the way of attaining this “dream,” Future was sure to share that he isn’t trippin’ on the matter. In fact, he’s confident that it’ll happen in due time and isn’t “chasing it.”
“When the time’s right, it’ll happen. It ain’t nothing that I’m really chasing. But I do dream of it, and I do want it. I swear I’d probably pick the wrong girl or something, if I was just chasing it…But I understand that it’s something I would love, and when the time presents itself, then I know I’m going to be prepared. I want to make sure I just live that to the fullest. But I don’t really think about that s**t, like having a wife and s**t. But I want a wife. Everybody around me wants me to have a wife more than I want a wife.”
While there are plenty of people who’d love to settle down, this proclamation coming from Future is pretty eyebrow-raising.
From Twitter memes to his “WAIT FOR U” music video and Lori Harvey diss, both fans and Future himself have embraced his “toxic” image.
In spite of this, though, it sounds like Future is looking to turn over a new leaf!
This isn’t the first time the “I’M ON ONE” rapper has spoken on the subject of settling down.
Last year, Future linked with GQ to field questions from fellow celebrities. Participants included Julia Fox, who asked Future if he would be open to having even more children.
In turn, Future replied with the affirmative and explained that he believes the experience would be “more special.”
“Yes—by my wife, if I ever get married, you know what I’m saying? I wanna have kids by my wife, of course. It could be like 3 cause I’ve never had more than one kid by a girl.
So if I had 2 by her, then it’s like more than I had. So I feel like it’ll be more special.”
This proclamation didn’t go over too well on Twitter.
In a later GQ interview, Future also addressed the aforementioned notion about being toxic, though he didn’t appear to be too concerned with brushing off this reputation.
“People associate me with being toxic…People have their own definition of what toxic is,” he told GQ. “[Women] were toxic to me. They just don’t want to admit it.”
Do you believe that Future will eventually make his way down the aisle and get married?
