Former NFL Player Darren Sharper was sentenced to 18 years in prison Thursday morning after pleading guilty to a case where he was accused of drugging and raping at least 16 women.
According to KABC-TV, back in June prosecutors suggested that Sharper be sentenced to nine years in prison, however Judge Jane Triche Milazzo denied as she felt that was too lenient for his crime.
His victims span across four states, which include Louisiana, California, Arizona and Nevada.
His 18-year sentence is 15 years short of the maximum time, and he has been fined a total of $20,000.
Two of his confidants, Brandon Licciardi and Erik Nunez have both admitted to putting anxiety drugs or sedatives into women’s drinks so they could rape them. Both men are expected to receive their sentences in October.
Sharper ended his 14-year NFL career back in 2011 after having played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints.
