The early 2000s had some of the hottest music to touch the airwaves! You couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing former “Bad Boy” rapper Black Rob’s hit record, “Whoa.” While Rob has been quiet in the rap game, he quickly startled his fans when a video was shared of him in the hospital, in an almost unrecognizable condition. In the video that was shared on Instagram by DJ Self, Rob opened up about the pain he was feeling.
Rob said, “I don’t know what the pain is, but the pain is crazy. It’s helping me out and making me realize that I have a lot more to go.” Though Rob was in pain, he still took the time to honor the late DMX in the video. An unknown person asked Rob, “How he felt about X?” He quickly responded, saying, “Big love to X.” While it’s unclear why Rob is in the hospital, this isn’t the first time he has had health issues. According to a 2015 interview with XXL, Rob opened up about recovering from a recent stroke in 2013.
The interviewer asked him about the recovery process, and Rob said that” It’s been… Up and down, man, you know what I’m saying? I’m just trying to bear with this and do this, man. It’s been, killer.” He also opened up about how the stroke affected his music. “After I had my stroke, I had to re-memorize all my s**t, all my lyrics. I didn’t know them,” Rob said. “So that right there was the biggest challenge. Years. That took years, man. I been fuc***g with this s**t, struggling with this, with my baby moms, for years.”
Although Rob has been out of the spotlight for a while, several people stepped into The Shade Room to show support, including Lance Gross, Amara La Negra, Evelyn Lozada, and countless others.
Roomies, let’s continue to keep him lifted in prayer.
