A man in Cape Canaveral, Florida, is in custody after causing a machete-related scene at a local karaoke bar!
The Suspect Was Determined To Perform A Karaoke Encore
ClickOrlando reports that the incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon after Travis Jordan, 39, requested to make an encore karaoke performance.
Upon being refused, Jordan is accused of responding by brandishing an 18-inch machete, which was concealed beneath his clothing.
Thankfully, a fellow bargoer convinced Jordan to peacefully surrender the machete, which was then hidden by staff until the police arrived. People at the karaoke bar also noted that “everyone started freaking out” after he wielded the large weapon.
Reportedly, responding officers noted that Jordan was stumbling and reeked of alcohol, and they proceeded to take him into custody.
He Was Ultimately Charged With Breaching The Peace
We should add that Travis Jordan openly admitted to wielding the weapon. However, he reportedly explained the decision by telling officers that he had been threatened a few days prior and, as a result, had to “stay alert.”
Despite this explanation, Jordan’s noted as not having been in any danger during the karaoke bar incident. Ultimately, the 39-year-old Floridian was charged with breaching the peace due to disorderly conduct.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the suspect was released shortly after being booked. He’s currently “awaiting trial” and is set to appear in court on April 27.
Additionally, on the BCSO Facebook page, Sheriff Wayne Ivey took a moment to poke fun at Jordan by noting that he “didn’t fully understand the rules of karaoke.”
“While Karaoke is a fun time for everyone, even those that can’t sing, when your turn is done, you can’t whip out a machete in order to get one more song!! Apparently our friend Mr. Jordan here, didn’t fully understand the rules of karaoke, as when the stage lights turned off, he tried to force them back on by pulling out a machete he had concealed on him, and demanding to do an encore!!”
Ivey went on to write, “Jordan’s actions didn’t earn him another song on stage, but they did win him a trip to ‘Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge’ where every night is open mic night, and he can sing any song he wants all night long!!”
This is a developing story.
