Roommates, a Florida man apparently thought that the mandatory rules about wearing a mask inside Walmart didn’t apply to him—and assaulted staff members as he forced his way inside. In the viral video that has garnered almost 8 million views online, the unidentified man is seen physically bombarding his way into a local Walmart despite multiple employees trying to stop him.
Whether he was aware of the current Walmart policy requiring face masks to be worn inside all stores while shopping or not, an elderly man got physical with several staff members in his attempt to bulldoze his way inside to shop. Initially, he entered the Walmart without a mask, barged past a security guard, pushed a staff member and then fell to the ground.
That incident was far from over however, as the man got up after falling down and continued to walk into the store as an employee wearing a face mask attempted to block him from shopping. The man pushed the employee into a display of tomatoes and continued walking into the store before he was surrounded by three additional Walmart staff members. One employee can be heard saying, “Sir, I need you out,” as the man continued to ignore the requests.
Beginning on April 17th, Walmart required that face masks be worn at all times while inside their stores—regardless of the regulations of each individual state:
“The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) now recommends wearing face coverings in public settings, including grocery stores, to help curb the spread of the virus. Although most state and local governments do not mandate the use of face coverings in public settings, the CDC has reported that recent studies show a significant portion of individuals with the virus lack symptoms and can transmit the virus. With this knowledge, we believe it is simply in everyone’s best interest to use masks or face coverings to curb the spread of this disease.”
This incident is the latest in multiple situations popping up across the country involving people refusing to wear masks in retail stores and restaurants.
