Felicity Huffman has been released from prison after only serving 11 of the 14 days she was sentenced to for her role in the college admissions scandal.
According to NBC News, a prison official she was released early as it is “normal policy for inmates who are set to be released on weekends.” As we previously reported, she turned herself in to serve her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California on October 15th.
Aside from serving her very short prison sentence, she was also ordered to pay a total of $30,000 and she must also perform a total of 250 hours of community service.
As mentioned before Huffman admitted to paying someone to correct her daughter’s college board test, giving her a score of 1420 out of a possible 1600.
When she turned herself into authorities, a spokesperson for Felicity said in a statement, “Ms. Huffman is prepared to serve the term of imprisonment Judge Talwani ordered as one part of the punishment she imposed for Ms. Huffman’s actions. She will begin serving the remainder of the sentence Judge Talwani imposed — one year of supervised release, with conditions including 250 hours of community service — when she is released.”
Earlier this year, when she pleaded guilty for her role in the scandal, she said, “I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community.”
Lori Loughlin has yet to face her consequences for her role in the scandal, but word is she may a more harsh sentence.
