Federal agents reportedly used footage taken from Boosie Badazz’s Instagram Live to arrest him after authorities spotted a gun tucked into his waistband in a video posted on May 6, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The Baton Rouge native has since been charged with one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
The Advocate reports that the San Diego Police Department had been investigating the social media posts from a member of the “Neighborhood Crips” gang, according to Boosies’s criminal complaint.
It was there that federal authorities reportedly caught Boosie on the live stream. He had been filming a music video in the backyard with a firearm in his waistband, the outlet reports.
Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, Jr., was arrested by federal agents outside of a San Diego courthouse on Wednesday (June 14) for possessing a weapon by a felon. A judge had just dismissed his state gun charges.
However, the 40-year-old age rapper was arrested for that same May incident outside the courtroom by the agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
On Thursday (June 17), Boosie was held without bail after his first court appearance. Prosecutors filed a motion during that hearing to seal the rapper’s arrest warrant and criminal complaint.
“Disclosure in the public record at this time likely would cause the targets to flee to avoid prosecution, destroy, or discard evidence, and otherwise seriously jeopardize the investigation,” the motion read.
Following his arrests, Boosie directly apologized to his children on social media while explaining that he loves them forever.
“I WANNA TAKE THIS TIME TO APOLOGIZE TO MY KIDS, IM SORRY AND I LOVE YALL FOREVER,” he posted.
Meanwhile, the rapper appears to be liquidating some assets for a cash injection amidst these most recent legal troubles.
He shared a photo of his white Rolls-Royce Cullinan for sale on Facebook and Instagram. The price? $240,000, cash only, The Shade Room reported last week. A picture of the speedometer shows the luxury vehicle has just over 42,000 miles on it.
Boosie’s next court hearing is scheduled for June 29.
