TSR Positive Images: When Gabrielle Pierce found out her graduation ceremony at Xavier University of Louisiana was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, she was devastated.
It appeared as if the years Gabrielle dedicated to earning her bachelors degree of public health science wasn’t going to be celebrated the way she deserved, but her father said, not on his watch.
Her dad got the idea to surprise her with her own graduation ceremony in their hometown of Memphis and invited family and neighbors to join in the celebration. About 30 people attended Gabrielle’s makeshift graduation ceremony (all practicing social distancing, of course) held right in their driveway, with her aunt Rev. Dr. Deborah Smith serving as her commencement speaker.
“I was filled with happiness,” Gabrielle tells us. “I just couldn’t believe I had so much support from my family, friends and neighbors.” SWIPE to check out Gabrielle’s ceremony and why her dad is an example of fatherhood we need to see!
