Did you guys tune into the #BETHonors last night? The show was flawlessly hosted by Arsenio Hall at the Wraner Theater in Washington, D.C. and aired last night on BET!
Our nation’s first African-American U.S. Attorney General Eric Holdner, the iconic Patti LaBelle, Oscar-winning producer-director and creator of “Empire” Lee Daniels, visionary, record exec, producer, and CEO of Epic RECORDS L.A. Reid, and business woman Mellody Hobson were all honored at the grandiose ceremony. Each honoree had a special performance dedicated to them by artists like Usher, Toni Braxton and her sisters, Jussie Smollett, Babyface and Fantasia!
What we thought was just amazing was that Jazmine Sullivan and Raheem Devaughn had the opportunity to sing a sweet melody of Earth Wind and Fire hits in honor of Maurice White. Ledisi also payed tribute to our dearly departed Natalie Cole. It’s safe to say that everyone was more than satisfied with such touching performances considering these are really the only posthumous tributes they’ve received!
Now, Miss Pattiiii!! Patti Labelle’s reactions to Fantasia and Eddie Levert swooning her were priceless! Like, she literally could not deal, so with that being said, check out some of the highlights from last night’s show and let’s chat!
Fantasia sang Patti LaBelle’s Somebody Loves You and almost took us to church!
Natalie Cole and Maurice White got the acknowledgement they deserve.
Natalie:
Lee Daniels revealed that Pattti LaBelle helped get him off of drugs and introduced him to Jesus during his heartfelt acceptance speech.
