Whew! Yo Gotti hit the ‘gram with a new track for the ladies to drop it low to this summer, and while his comment section was full of plenty of fire emojis, a lot of fans questioned the complexion of the ladies he chose to be in the video.
If y’all have been waiting for a summer anthem, this one might be it! Yo Gotti dropped “DROP” featuring Da Baby, and the visuals scream hot girl summer. With dozens of ladies in little shorts and cute bikinis, the video is set at a mansion pool party.
The song might be a bop and the visuals are fun, but some of Yo Gotti’s fans couldn’t get passed the fact that they didn’t see many dark skinned women in the clip he posted.
“I don’t seen not nan beautiful melanin woman in this video, I can’t get into it,” one woman wrote.
“Mmm it’s giving very much colorist. Lmao then you going to put one brown skin girl in for a split second I see what’s going on here,” another fan commented.
On the other hand, some fans criticized the desire for brown and dark skinned women to appear in videos that sexualize women.
“Why are we surprised and most importantly why do we care? These aren’t the spaces we even wanna be represented in, next case,” one woman said she she stepped into The Shade Room.
Da Baby is just a feature on the song, but he also caught some heat from fans due to his connection to DaniLeigh. If y’all recall, while dating Da Baby earlier this year, Dani previewed a new song titled “Yellow Bone” and let’s just say folks weren’t too fond of the lyrics, which praised being light skinned.
What are your thoughts, Roomies? Should Yo Gotti have been more selective with the ladies in his video? Let us know in the comments.
