It’s been just over a month since Kelly Rowland and Frank Gatson birthed June’s Diary, and now a fan has created a petition calling for season two of Chasing Destiny. The originator, Tyrah Chanell, is calling for a second season, because she along with many of her peers, feel that true R&B is on a decline.
“In a time where real R&B is becoming more and more non-existent, we need to quickly make moves to get them back,” she wrote on the petition’s page. “We need to get back to a time where music had meaningful messages.”
Chanell also feels that R&B groups of our past such as En Vogue, SWV, Boyz II Men and Jodeci represented “brotherhood and sisterhood, respect and love” and for this reason, she feels that it’s time for a male R&B group.
“It’s time to make a male R&B group,” she said. “With the mentorship of Kelly and Frank, we can have two R&B groups impacting a generation that is in desperate need of seeing artists that convey diversity and love for one another. The females were given a chance to follow their dreams. Please give these males a chance to follow theirs.”
Who wouldn’t want a fresh male R&B group? Tyrah Chanell’s argument is valid –there’s got to be a balance!
