Many people were concerned about rapper Famous Dex over the weekend after he shared a video where he appeared to be under the influence. On Saturday, December 19th, the rapper quickly started trending on social media after sharing a video of himself on Instagram sitting in his home. In the video, he was rapping along to a new song. He also posted a video showing off two new tattoos that said “Sad” and “Love.”
Dex then tweeted, “I don’t wanna smile no more.” After the alarming posts, public figures spoke out on Dex’s condition. John Gabbana, formally known as “Boonk Gang,” pinned a message for Dex on Instagram. He wrote, “Hey brother, I remember when we first met a while ago in LA at studio city Sound, and man, and you seem genuinely happy. I don’t know how life is going for you right now, but from the outside looking in, man, it’s not looking so good. You don’t look healthy, Broski, and at this time of life, the only thing that matters is our health. I used to be on pills heavy, thinking it’ll help me cope with the pain, but it only made things worse. I started fighting depression and addiction. Bro, anything that has a negative effect on our health is not worth it. Then we are disconnecting ourselves from God, but thanks to Jesus Christ, we have a way to escape the traps of the devil. I’m not here to judge you. I just want to give you some words of encouragement. It’s never too late to make a change. Just keep the faith. Jesus loves you.”
Rapper NLE Choppa previously tweeted in support of Dex. He said, “I’ve never been the type to be in folks business but @300 y’all see @FamousDex obviously on drugs too heavy can y’all at least try surrounding that man around somebody with his best interest. Help dude out, or somebody who already is in his ear uplift dude he NEEDING it.”
It was reported today from All Hip Hop that Dex has currently entered rehab. It’s unclear what specificity he will be treated for, but drugs have been an issue for him in the past, which he has been vocal about. Rapper Rich The Kid shared a photo of Dex as it appears he was about to board a jet to go to the facility to receive treatment. Shortly after, Dex shared on Instagram a message that said, ”Be back soon.”
Roomies, let’s keep him lifted in prayer while he starts his journey to recovery.
