Family Members Of Kevin Samuels Say That Recent GoFundMe Was Created By An Imposter And They Refuse To Accept Money Raised

Weeks after his untimely death, the family of Kevin Samuels is speaking out regarding a GoFundMe account that is currently making the rounds online. Speaking out directly to fans, the family clarified that the GoFundMe created for Kevin Samuels is an imposter account—and they don’t intend to accept any of the money it raised for his funeral expenses.

Following the death of Kevin Samuels, a viral GoFundMe account surfaced, and fans immediately pitched in to donate to cover the cost of his funeral—but now his family says that the GoFundMe was not created by anyone directly associated or related to Kevin.

After confirming that the account was an imposter, his family says that despite a significant amount of money being raised (for which they were offered a cash payout) they have no plans to accept the money. As a result, the money has been returned to all those who donated it over the last few weeks.

As we previously reported, Kevin Samuels passed away on May 6th at the age of 57 in Atlanta. The report from the Atlanta Police Department confirmed his identity and revealed that he was transported to Piedmont Hospital.

A woman at the scene (identified as Ms. Ortencia Alcantara) told officials that she met Kevin on May 4th and “came to his apartment and spent the night with him.” The following morning, the woman said Kevin complained of chest pain. When she attempted to help him, he reportedly fell on top of her, and she then called 911.

The initial incident report stated that Alcantara “requested the 911 operator to contact the front desk for a defibrillator to keep Mr. Samuels responsive until Grady arrived because she is a nurse.”
