Many of us grew up with Kyla Pratt on our television screens. With her infectious laughs and being the girl crush for many, the Los Angeles born talent is one we hold near to our hearts. From ‘Dr. Dolittle,’ ‘One on One,’ and, of course, ‘The Proud Family’ she has contributed a great deal to our culture and childhood.
In an exclusive interview with The Shade Room, the 36-year-old stopped by and put us in her business just a lil’ bit. The mother-of-two dished on a notable role she auditioned for but didn’t land. Pratt also discussed how she can maintain her privacy in a world full of screenshots and videos.
I feel like a lot of things people put out there, and I’m very particular about different things that are going on in my private life.
The 36-year-old continued to say:
I feel like a lot of people think they can have opinions about stuff that you have going on, and I honestly don’t care. I’m very protective about the people I love, and I feel like that’s the best way to keep it.
Pratt also continued to say that she auditioned for ‘Eve’s Bayou’ when she was younger, but “the right person got the role,” as Jurnee Smollett ended up landing the role of Eve Batiste.
Speaking on getting her flowers, the voice behind Penny’s character on ‘The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder,’ says she appreciates love and recognition. Still, it isn’t the main reason she’s in the industry. The California native “loves” what she does for a living.
The impact ‘The Proud Family’ has on her family allows her to communicate better with her two kids she shares with famous tattoo artist, Danny Kirkpatrick Jr.
Watching it with my kids allows us to talk about things we normally don’t talk about.
