On June 17th TSR Investigates broke a story about Jumanah Baskerville, a Black Atlanta mom who had a very disturbing encounter with county marshals.
In the initial reports it was revealed that Baskerville was confronted by police looking to enforce an eviction order for her boyfriend’s apartment that she happened to be staying in at the time.
A confrontation that ultimately ended in Baskerville’s arrest after officers humiliated her by slamming her to the ground naked in front of her four-year-old daughter.
Authorities Insist No Policies Were Broken, However Victim’s Boyfriend Says He Was Never Provided A Court Date
A spokesperson for the Fulton County Marshal’s office insists no policies were broken. However, Baskerville’s boyfriend claims he was aware of the eviction notice but never even given a court date.
In this episode of TSR Investigates Updatez will the full body cam footage reveal what really occurred that day?
Bodycam footage, obtained exclusively by The Shade Room, shows as several all-male Fulton County marshals arrive to execute the eviction.
Baskerville, dressed only in a bathrobe, can be seen becoming increasingly agitated as the officers tell her to get some clothes on.
She reportedly called her boyfriend, who’s name was listed on the apartment lease and who was at work at the time of the eviction.
He initially said he had no idea he was being evicted, as Baskerville related the situation to him over the phone.
“The cops are here and they said they are evicting me right now, like telling me to put my clothes on and kicking me out of the house right now,” she can be heard telling her boyfriend. “So you need to come here right now, they got hella people out in the hallway, and they about to take everything out of the motherf***** house.”
She then walks into another room and closes the door after agreeing to put some clothes on, before one of the officers tells her “don’t close the door.”
Situation Escalated Immediately After Victim Followed Officer’s Orders To Get Dressed
The situation immediately escalates, according to the body cam footage, with the marshal screaming at Baskerville to “go to the bathroom and get dressed.”
“Who are you talking to? Get off me! She can be heard yelling, as the officer continues to order her to “get down now” as the two wrestle to the floor.
Baskerville then yells out in pain that the marshals are breaking her arm, as her four-year-old daughter stood nearby, watching the whole thing play out.
The marshal tells her “you should be ashamed of yourself” before telling her that she’s going to jail. They attempted to put jeans on her, but they didn’t fit, as they belonged to her boyfriend.
“It was obvious that I didn’t have clothes on,” she told TSR Investigates’ Justin Carter. “Once he body slammed me, he could see that I was naked. It was just humiliating and it was kind of violating for him to put pants on for me.”
Arresting Marshal Claims Baskerville Was The Aggressor, But Bodycam Footage Shows Otherwise
Baskerville added that maybe it would have been less of a violation if a female officer had tried to put pants on her.
Another marshal can then be seen attempting to calm Baskerville down as he held her crying daughter’s hand, while telling her that she should have followed the other officer’s orders.
He then comforts her as she too begins to cry.
Her boyfriend eventually arrived to retrieve their daughter, and spoke with the arresting marshal who claimed that it was Baskerville who was the aggressor.
“She decided to fight two grown a** men, who have kids just like you got kids,” the marshal tells Baskerville’s boyfriend. “After she closed the door on my face, no, that’s it.”
She was checked out by EMTs for her arm before being taken to the Fulton County jail.
All Charges Dropped Against Baskerville After Arrest
Baskerville tells TSR Investigates that the judge and prosecutors immediately dropped the case.
When asked if she thought she could have done anything different to avoid that outcome. she said she did follow the officer’s orders when he told her to go get dressed, adding “he didn’t tell me where to get dressed at.”
Records show that Baskerville’s boyfriend owed about $1600 in back rent. Bodycam footage shows that he was ultimately aware of the impending eviction, but was waiting on a court date which was never given to him.
A representative for the marshals office told TSR Investigates that “no policies had been broken,” and had hoped that by releasing the body cam footage that it would shed more light on what happened that day.
Fulton County jail, where Baskerville was booked, is where rapper Young Thug has remained ever since his arrest for RICO charges, The Shade Room recently reported.
