Eva Marcille is opening up and addressing comments about her recent weight loss.
On Tuesday, April 9, a clip from a recent episode of ‘The Tamron Hall Show’ was published via YouTube. In the clip, Marcille joined Hall as the special guest and addressed comments about her recent weight loss.
“I went through a divorce last year. Anyone who’s ever gone through a divorce knows that divorce is hard — it’s like the stomach flu. Like, you will be skinny afterward. You drop a 200 pound person and you’re gonna drop at least 30 pounds,” Marcille explained.
The ‘America’s Next Top Model’ alum went on to explain that she “lost weight just naturally going through life.”
“And I found myself depressed, um, before my divorce, through my divorce — trying to just navigate and rediscover: who am I?” she explained. “I’m not the wife anymore. I’m not someone’s someone. I’m someone’s mom but if I took the mom away… if I took ‘Top Model’ away, like who is Eva? Who am I? And making sure I prioritize knowing that character and building that character.”
Before concluding, Marcille explained that she will be “positive” and find her path forward. However, he “words,” or social media comments, “hurt.”
Social media users shared support and love for Marcille in The Shade Room’s comment section.
While Instagram user @jujuleger85 added, “Whew i felt this. I got down to 90lbs before. When I say my depression was ghetto for me😔 so happy she’s finding herself. That’s a journey worth going on 👏👏”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Marcille filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Michael Sterling, on March 23, 2023. The filing, exclusively obtained by The Shade Room, asserted that Marcille believed their union was “irretrievably broken” with no chance of reconciliation.
At the time, the pair had been married for five years.
After the news of Marcille’s divorce filing spread, Sterling shared a statement explaining that he wasn’t going to “lose” his wife, per The Shade Room.
“I am not going to lose my wife. I am going to fight for her with every fiber in my being. I love her, and I plan to show her how much I love her and that our love is strong enough to get to the other side,” Sterling reportedly told theJasmineBrand.
However, in April, Sterling hired a divorce lawyer, Kristal Holmes, who shared a statement on his behalf, per The Shade Room.
“Michael Sterling’s focus, attention and priority remains [on] his family and saving his marriage to his wife, Eva Sterling. As an experienced lawyer, however, Michael understands the legal requirement that he is obligated to respond to the divorce petition in a court of law,” the statement asserted.
Despite Sterling seemingly holding out hope for his and Marcille’s reconciliation, the pair reportedly finalized their divorce in August 2023.
