Eric Garner died back in 2014 after he was put in a choke hold by the NYPD. His family was awarded a $2.4 million settlement for Eric’s death, but despite the large settlement his widow is still living in public housing.
According to the New York Post, Esaw Snipes got $500,000 up front and will receive the rest of the cash once the case is closed.
The New York Housing Authority is letting Snipes stay in her apartment because the money she was awarded from the lawsuit doesn’t count as disqualifying income, according to the federal law.
