Guess what show is being sued for a stolen idea…again? “Empire” of course!
Meet Jon Astor-White, the latest person with the claim that Lee Daniels stole his idea — and he wants $500 million.
According to Jon, back in 2007, he was shopping around a show titled “King Solomon” and it apparently has a lot of similarities to “Empire.”
Well would ya looky here?!
Jon claims that “King Solomon” would have starred Richard Roundtree (Shaft denied) and was about a record executive and his family and their battle over control of the company.
He says he faxed around the proposal which included a would-be-nice cast list, which included Diahann Carroll, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, John Goodman, George Hamilton and Angie Dickinson.
In his claim, Jon describes his show as “the style and elegance of ‘Dynasty’ meets ‘The Sopranos’ with a sprinkling of ‘The Godfather.’ That’s a similar comparison Marvin Gaye III made in his previous claim that “Empire” stole his idea.
Jon is seeking the $500 million as well as additional damages.
