It’s hard for Eminem to drop an album and not make waves. While Em is a noted lyricist who often graces people’s “Top 5” list, his words have also earned him status as one of the most controversial rappers.
And rarely does he apologize but this time he is, to a close friend who he has collaborated with multiple times. Eminem issued a long-overdue apology to Rihanna in his new song “Zeus,” which is off of the deluxe version of his album, “Music to be Murdered By – Side B.”
Just as a quick refresher, a leaked verse from Eminem made headlines back in November of 2019 when he said “Of course I side with Chris Brown, I’d beat a b***h down too,” in the song, referencing their 2009 domestic incident.
On “Zeus,” Eminem tried to make things right with Rih saying, “But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest, and wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna. For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Rih. It wasn’t meant to cause you grief. Regardless, it was wrong of me.”
While Em tried to make amends with one artist, he may have started beef with another in the same song.
Eminem clapped back at Snoop Dogg for leaving Em off his top 10 rappers list. Em raps, “And as far as squashin’ beef, I’m used to people knockin’ me. But, just not in my camp. I’m diplomatic, ’cause I’m tryna be. Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me. Man, dog, you was like a damn God to me. Man, not really. I had dog backwards.”
Em’s words are clearly not coming from just out of thin air. The back story is back in July, Snoop called Eminem “the great white hope” and suggested Eminem owes all his success to Dr. Dre.
Em and Snoop have performed together and they’re both tight with Dre, but now things seem to be getting real. It’ll be interesting to see how or if they patch things up and whether Rihanna will respond to Eminem’s apology.
We’ll keep you posted.
