As many of you know, while the Ellen DeGeneres Show was taking a break, there have been allegations about the show’s work environment that made its way to the forefront. On Monday, the new season of Ellen’s show premiered, and she addressed the allegations head on.
In the opening monologue of the show, Ellen said, “As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show and then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously and I want to say I am so sorry to the people that were affected. I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.”
Ellen continued to note that, with the show’s new season, the show is entering a new chapter.
“We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, the workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter,” said Ellen.
As we previously reported, the show was placed under investigation for alleged mistreatment, discrimination and racism in the workplace.
Nonetheless, Ellen received tons of support from her Hollywood peers as they spoke about her character, and vouched for how good of a person she is. Celebrities such as Kevin Hart, Katy Perry and most recently, Steve Harvey spoke out in her favor.
