It looks like the Johnson name will continue to live on in the wrestling world, as the next generation has officially signed with the WWE.
On Monday, it was announced that Simone Johnson, the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has officially signed with the WWE. According to ESPN, when the 18-year-old makes her WWE in-ring debut, she will be the “first fourth-generation star in promotion history.”
Aside from Simone’s father being one of WWE’s biggest stars, her late grandfather Rocky Johnson was known as an African American pro-wrestling pioneer, and her great-grandfather was “High Chief” Peter Maivia.
Simone took to social media to announce the news and said, “To the little girl who fell in love with wrestling & said ‘this will be my life one day’, this is for you. I’m humbled, grateful & ready to work. Let’s do this.”
Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who is an executive at WWE, said in a statement, “Simone Johnson’s unbridled passion and incredible drive has earned her a coveted spot training with the elite athletes from around the world at the WWE Performance Center. Not only does Simone now have an opportunity to cultivate and display her passion for WWE within the Performance Center, but she’ll carry on the tradition of her incredible family lineage while creating her own impact as WWE’s first fourth-generation superstar.”
Back in 2018, Dwayne Johnson spoke about his daughter’s love for wrestling while making an appearance on Good Morning America. At that time, he shared, “I said, ‘Honey, whatever your passion is I support that,’ and wrestling was good to me. I started my career in Madison Square Garden, so bring it on. She’s going to be a champ.”
