It seems like Drake has made a surprising decision regarding one of his biggest songs with Rihanna.
At a recent concert, the Canadian rapper revealed to his fans that he will no longer be performing their hit song “Work” together.
Drake Says He’ll No Longer Sing His Collab With Rihanna
Drake made the comment on his ‘It’s All A Blur’ tour stop in Tampa, Florida, on Friday (February 2) as the song in question played in the background. While Rih-Rih’s vocals are heard, Drizzy interrupts his set to say, “Yeah, I don’t sing that song anymore. You can sing that for me.”
The comment came as a surprise for several reasons.
As previously mentioned, it’s one of Drake’s best-selling songs. The track, according to Forbes, spent a whopping nine consecutive weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100, oh-kay!
The song also marked the third time they had collaborated together. Previously, they had teamed up for 2010’s ‘What’s My Name’ and 2011’s ‘Take Care.’ Following the release of ‘Work,’ Rihanna and Drake couldn’t help but jump back in the studio for yet another hit with ‘Too Good.’
Needless to say, while these two superstars are great collaborators, Drake announcing he will no longer perform ‘Work’ has fans speculating what prompted this decision?
More importantly, though, people are curious to know what this means for their iconic musical partnership.
In October 2023, the ‘One Dance’ chart-topper dropped his latest album ‘For All The Dogs.’
Did Drake Shade Rihanna On His New Album?
But it’s his song, ‘Fear of Heights, ‘ that many are speculating was written with Rihanna in mind.
The song hears Drake recount a relationship he once shared with another woman.
Drake seemingly takes shots at Rihanna on “Fear of Heights” from his new album:
“Gyal can't ruin me, better him than me, better it's not me. I'm anti, I'm anti. Yeah, and the sex was average with you. Yeah, I'm anti 'cause I had it with you.” pic.twitter.com/v4Yol0I88x

While he never mentions the person’s name, the lyrics were apparently suggestive enough for fans to conclude he was referring to the Fenty Beauty founder.
“Why they make it sound like I’m still hung up on you?/That could never be/Gyal can’t be me/Better him than me/Better it’s not me.”
The use of the Caribbean slang word “gyal” suggests that Rihanna, who is from Barbados, may be the subject of the song. Not to mention that her Instagram username is “badgalriri.”
Fans also noticed a line where Drake says, “Yeah, and the sex was average with you / Yeah, I’m anti ’cause I had it with you.” This was interpreted as potentially being another reference to Rihanna and her last studio album ‘Anti.’
“One thing Drake is gonna do, is be messy for the sake of entertainment to make y’all go stream the song,” one person by the username @lyricspoetic wrote on X.

Another user @AerotheDJ, convinced that Drizzy was shading Rih-Rih, wrote:
“hold up, did Drake diss Rihanna in Fear of Heights? the word play with AnTi. somebody talk to me.”

We can not confirm if the speculation is accurate. So far, Rihanna has remained tight-lipped on where she currently stands with Drake.
