He Wants To Step Back From Music For “Maybe A Year Or Something”
The Toronto-bred artist made his announcement during an episode of SiriusXM’s Table for One series that premiered on Friday (Oct. 6).
After reflecting on his album, he abruptly revealed, “I probably won’t make music for a little bit.”
“I’m gonna be honest — I got some other things I need to do for some other people that I made promises to, but I probably won’t make music for a little bit.”
He further explained, “I need to focus on my health first and foremost.” While Drake didn’t go into too much detail, he acknowledged that he’s been having gastrointestinal issues.
“I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach. … I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right. And I’m gonna do that.”
The rapper added, “Imma lock the door on the studio for a little bit.” However, he noted that, while he’s unsure of the details, he’s considering stepping back for “maybe a year or something.”
“I need to get right. I have a lot of things that I would love to focus on, so Imma lock the door on the studio for a little bit. I don’t even know what a little bit is — maybe a year or something, maybe a little longer.”
Beneath The Shade Room‘s upload on Drake’s announcement, one Roomie going by @peacefulsoul2 showed support by remarking, “Good for him. He works hard, and deserve to focus on his mental health.”
Nonetheless, others like @jayintx_ utilized the opportunity to take a shot at the rapper by stating, “After that album he probably needs to.” Oop!
