Drake is the newest wax figure in Madame Tussauds’ New Year’s Eve concert collection at their New York location.
The wax museum announced the Drizzy addition on July 1. On Instagram, it shared a video that gave a close and full look at the Canadian rapper and also highlighted other artists in wax.
“The rapper’s pose features his iconic owl hand sign, paying homage to his OVO brand and his unique connection to his fans,” the museum shared in a press release.
Drizzy’s wax twin sported a couple of cornrows with a thick full beard, diamonds in both ears, and a thick diamond chain. The outfit mirrored the rapper’s latest swag, with a distressed gray tee, khaki tie-dye jeans, and a ‘shacket,’ finished off with a pair of white Air Force 1s.
Drake’s new wax figure is part of the museum’s fresh Music area, which underwent a multi-million dollar revamp. The marketing manager of the New York location shared a statement about the “star” feeling the exhibit gave.
“Our new Music experience is one of those magical spaces within the museum that guests are immediately drawn to, so we’re confident the reimagined area, which is more immersive than ever, will bring a new level of excitement to the experience,” Eliza Rose said. “Plus, with so many A-list musicians surrounding you, who wouldn’t feel like a star here?”
The rapper’s figure is accompanied by wax renditions of Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, J Balvin, Elvis, Harry Styles, and Megan Thee Stallion, to name a few. On its website, Madame Tussauds New York revealed that Merlin Magic Making designed the new Music Area.
Drake Is Two-Up On The Madame Tussauds Wax Figures
This isn’t the first time the international wax museum has debuted a Drake wax figure. In February 2023, Drake’s figure took residence at Madame Tussauds’ London location. Its general manager at the time, Tim Waters, shared that Drake’s love for the city inspired the statue.
“Drake has shown his love for London on numerous occasions with his surprise appearance at Wireless Festival being just one example of this. With reports that he’s soon to call London home, we wanted to make sure we were able to give him a warm welcome to our streets and show that the love is reciprocated the only way we know how by immortalizing him in our famous attraction,” Tim Waters, general manager at Madame Tussauds London, said in a press release., per Billboard.
Drake hasn’t publicly reacted to his latest wax figure. The rapper has been keeping a chill profile since his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar hit a high point in April. Both rappers traded diss records back and forth for several weeks, taking shots at their families, crews, and music.
Ultimately, the standout in replay value turned out to be Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ diss. In addition to being the bop of the summer, references to Lamar’s disses have gone beyond entertainment, even touching politics.
Taraji P. Henson opened up the 2024 BET Awards by rapping a parody version of the song while wearing the SAME ‘fit K. Dot wore for his viral Juneteeth concert.
